Faith and Service

Hero

“The purpose of our education is to give a young man the tools whereby he can answer the question ‘What does God want from me?’”    –Fr. Robert J. Welsh, S.J.

Our Catholic Faith

Theology Class

Theology at the Welsh Academy is unique because it combines academic skills with personal reflection and prayer. We think about our classroom as more than a space for learning; it is a community of faith. In this community, students should:

  • walk away with a better understanding of God, themselves, and one another.
  • feel safe expressing who they are, what they believe, and what they care about.
  • read, write, discuss, and think critically.
  • experience a balance between spiritual reflection and academic rigor.

The Welsh Academy Student Pledge

I ask myself, “Have I done all I could today to better love, serve, and know God?”

Everything we do in Theology and Campus Ministry has 3 goals:

  • Learn more about yourself
  • Learn more about your community
  • Learn more about God

Our goal is to create a Theology and Campus Ministry Program that:

  • Gets students to love God, care about their faith, and seek to make the world a better place
  • Is developmentally appropriate
  • Takes the context of our students into account

Retreats

Retreats are an important part of a student's experience at the Welsh Academy. Not only are they integral to our identity as a Catholic, Jesuit school, but they further Father Welsh’s vision of helping each and every student to better know, love, and serve God.

Liturgy

Welsh Academy students attend all-school Mass alongside students from Saint Ignatius High School. Masses are held on special occasions and holy days of obligation. Welsh Academy students often have the opportunity to participate in Mass as readers and servers.

Service at The Welsh Academy

Christian Action Team

Welsh Academy students have the opportunity to participate in service activities and projects through Saint Ignatius High School's Christian Action Team (C.A.T.). Each year, students participate in the Rini Family Christmas Food Drive, Christmas in our Community Day, Spring Into Action, and more.
